Saskatchewan’s PeriAnesthesia nursing colleagues first began discussions to form a special interest group in 1998. PANGS' request to be recognized as a Professional Practice Group was approved by the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses Association (SRNA) late in 2002 and the PeriAnesthesia Nurses’ Group of Saskatchewan (PANGS) was officially formed in 2003.
▪ to promote high standards for PeriAnesthesia nursing;
▪ to represent Saskatchewan PeriAnesthesia nurses locally and nationally, and to support
the objectives of NAPAN©;
▪ to identify needs and to promote continuing education and research in
▪ to share knowledge and issues about matters relating to PeriAnesthesia settings;
▪ to promote specialty certification.
Conferences and Meetings:
PANGS holds an annual general meeting and conference each fall as well as quarterly conference call meetings. Every other year PANGS partners with SORNG (Saskatchewan Operating Room Nurses Group) to hold a two-day conference. PANGS members receive reduced registration fees to attend the conferences. PANGS Annual General Meeting occurs yearly in September or October. Check this website for the dates of each year's annual general meeting.
PANGS also assists members with registration fees to attend NAPAN©’s Annual General Meeting and Conference, dependent upon funds available. Information regarding PANGS activities and contacts are also posted on the SRNA website.
